Instruction Hours Funding and Costs

Government Schools

  • Government schools are allocated 6 hours per year level for years 6,7,8, 9 and 10 which can be used for aquatics (no cost for instruction hours!)

  • Many schools apply for ‘Double Aquatics’ approval from the Water Safety Team to undertake a 12 hour program

  • Double Aquatics is usually sought by schools in camp situations and generally at a country based aquatic centre

  • Additional aquatics hours can be purchased at User Pays rates

  • 2024 User Pays rate = $65 / hour (government school)

  • Student to Instructor Ratio is 6:1 (this can be used to determine number of instructors required)

Non-Government Schools

  • Non-government schools can access instruction hours on a User Pays basis

  • 2024 User Pays rate = $73 / hour (non-government school)

  • Student to Instructor Ratio is 6:1 (this can be used to determine number of instructors required)

Other Costs

Equipment Levy

This is charged per student per aquatic activity session (lesson) and is our aquatic centre’s main budget revenue for replacing our range of equipment as needed and covering operating costs such as fuel and wear and tear.

  • General Program: $5.00 / student / session

  • SACE Program: $2.25 / student / session

Facility Hire

The following is charged per night:

  • Outdoor Kitchen $50 / night

  • DMAC Classroom/Kitchen $50 / night

  • Sailing Club & Kitchen $150 / night

Accommodation & Sleeping

The following is charged per student and includes toilet & shower amenities charge:

  • Cabins $10 / night

  • Camping $5 / night
